Speed Boat Trip: Chatara to Tribeni

Chatara: Sapta Koshi, where the speed boat trip was supposed to begin at 9:00am in the morning. The trip was organised by journalist from Dharan and was supposed to be about 20 people from various profession. According to the itinerary we were to leave Dharan as early as 7:15am, but we ended leaving around 9:30am bad start and late start. This is how we had to begin our day trip of speed boat from Chatara- Tribeni. The whole purpose of the trip was to promote and make aware to the general public and the tourist about the speed boat.
We were supposed to be 20 in numbers from representing different profession. But we ended up with more than 200. We were supposed to get the bit of our breaky (breakfast) at 9:00am; we ended up having our breaky between 1:00pm-2:00pm. We were supposed to start our trip from Chatara-Tribeni from 9:00am onwards. Everybody wanted to be the first to jump in so giving everyone a turn we ended up being the last one and that one too nearly got cancelled as the boat staff was not happy (about the contract or payment not sure). Thank God he changed his mind after we spoke some kind words. We ended up being in the boat around 4:00pm-5:00pm.
Ended up at 7:00pm for lunch, the place we were supposed to eat there was no one who organised the whole trip, no light it was all dark, couldn’t see where food was? No meat, no plates, there was only few plastic disposable cups to drink water. This is what I used to eat my lunch at 7:00pm. I had rice in one cup, vegetable in another, pickle in another and so on…
I was here at my friends bidding. But, never again will I be going or suggest anyone to any trip or activities organised by these fellows. It was totally a rip off Rs. 1,000 each for the trip.

Speed Boat Trip: To and From Chatara-Tribeni

People in a queue for the speed boat trip

Everybody here was: I, Me and Myself. Boat could only hold max 18 people going upstream. But, look at these people there are more than 18 people. When people were asked to please step out off the boat as it has reached the maximum number the boat will not be able to pull upstream and could tip. No one I mean no one wanted to get off the boat.

What a shame: Police were called to ask the people to step out off the boat and keep the max number of 18 people in it

Our turn at around 4:00pm

Waves caused by the moving speed boat. Suspension bridge behind us

Bamboo sellers: Young boys who travel from the hill country on a long floating bamboo which they sell once they reach to the plains. They spent the night on it if it gets dark before they reach their destination

Tribeni: Arun River on the right, Sunkoshi (made of total five rivers) on the left. Tamur behind me joins it few 100-200 meters south. Tribeni: Meaning the meeting point of three rivers.

Traffic and the crowd in New Road, Kathmandu: The road is really narrow for the city like Kathmandu the nation’s capital. Let alone to drive in the road itself, it is small even for people to along the either side of the road in footpath/pavement. Beware of pick pockets…

Nepalese Army Training

Nepalese Army, the only well organised and disciplined organisation and department in Nepal. It is not filled with corruption; at least we don’t see like we do in every level of government departments from local to central including the government ministries of Nepal.
Government should increase the budget to fund to increase and extend the Nepalese Army as such a time like this that the country is facing uncertainty and instability. Military should not be pulled or push into any political games. Military should be neutral but firm in the interest of Nepal and the Nepalese people, defending Nepal and the Nepalese from any threat be it internal or external.

N-epal.com --- Welfare Office!

Gurkha Welfare Centre - Place where retired Gurkhas are supposed to get some help and assistance. Mainly medical help and assistance to retired Gurkha and the widows of the Gurkhas who served in the British Gurkha.
But, in Nepal people are selfish and always waiting to pull you down incase they might do well than oneself. Even in this small place which is owned by the British Government you find people doing politics. People who are working here seems to take side either they show favour or go against people of certain caste when it comes to providing welfare assistance.
Well most of the staff working here are Rais and Limbus, who are paid by the British Government to be a help and assistance to the retired Gurkhas and their families and not to politicise the situation.
I came across Rais and other caste staff, found them to be quiet helpful despite of whatever the caste the Gurkha and their family member was. But, I found Limbu workers to be little more leaning towards their own caste and delay and obstruct the welfare process if they were other than Limbus.
People working her must remember they got their job only because of the Gurkhas and their family, the only reason they were hired to serve and assist in any means within the British guideline. If there were no Gurkhas and their families no matter what their caste is, there would be no jobs here. People here are paid only because of the Gurkhas and are paid to help and look after them.
British have no clue about this, at least I think? But, people who are paid to help the Gurkhas are the people who are being a hindrance to their own fellow countrymen; this is what money does to many people.

Duhabi

Duhabi is a small town build on Koshi Highway on the way to Biratnagar, between Itahari and Biratnagar. It is still a village development committee. Although it is just a town/village it has many factories and industries in and around Duhabi. It is an industrial area. Duhabi is in Sunsari District of Koshi Zone. Duhabi VDC is also the border between Sunsari and Morang District. Duhabi has large population of Madhesh people either Nepal born or flooded from Indian as it is less than half hour drive to the border.
The town is densely populated on either side of Koshi Highway and less populated and built outside 100m of the Highway. The road is wide enough for just 2-3 vehicles to pass through, but impossible to build wide roads in future without demolishing the houses on either sides of the road. If the 56feet/85feet/100feet wide road plan from the center to either side of the Highway goes ahead then all the houses in Duhabi will be demolished, leaving the residents with nothing or maybe just the kitchen or maybe just the toilet.
